Statement on Sexual HarassmentAugust 1, 2018
The DaNa Facility and DAI have a zero tolerance approach to sexual harassment in the workplace. At DAI, we are acutely aware of our responsibility to protect our staff, our partners—including consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and any party doing business with DAI—our beneficiaries, and other people we work with from any form of exploitation and abuse.
DAI’s President and CEO, Jim Boomgard, recently noted: “We expect everyone at DAI—regardless of where you work, or what role you play in the company—to live up to the standards of behavior articulated in our training and in the DAI’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, which is now available in seven languages. DAI has strict policies and robust systems of training, awareness building, and reporting around ethics issues, including sexual misconduct, and we are dedicated to ensuring that our culture encourages both a respectful, safe workplace for women and men and—crucially—an expectation that ethics violations of all kinds can be readily reported in confidence without fear of adverse repercussions. We remain resolutely committed to refining and strengthening these systems as part of our broader commitment to integrity in everything we do; we have zero tolerance for ethical breaches of any kind, including sexual exploitation and abuse.
In Myanmar, we see the issue of sexual exploitation and abuse as critical to women’s economic participation and empowerment. We are currently undertaking research to better understand this issue in four sectors (agribusiness, retail, finance and tourism) in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and to refine our support to clients and partners ensuring that there is zero tolerance to sexual harassment in the workplace.
